Help Us Keep Moving Forward!
Aloha, We want to share with you the opportunities that are now in front of our trustees and staff here at Storybook Theatre as we enter the summer of 2024. As the Covid 19 pandemic found it's way to Kauai and our island began to close up to visitors and to much of our normal activities of the theatre, we were offered two favorable circumstances to be able to survive and grow into the future. 1. We were awarded a favorable lease property (former Methodist Camp in Puu Ka Pele lots) in Kokee State Park at a nominal lease rent for 15 years, provided we rehabilitate the property. This opportunity has given us a beautiful camp and has inspired the development of new programs that introduce young people to our Hawaiian Forests. 1. The USDA, which helped us to fund the completion of the theater and decorative gate in 'Sparky's Garden, offered to defer our monthly loan payments during the pandemic. Unfortunately, the accrued interest and three years of deferred payment put the loan balance back to where we started in 2011.
