Creating a Path to Peace…One Brick at a Time
Help us Pave the Pathway in Memory of Spark M. Matsunaga
“From his childhood days walking barefoot on the streets of Hanapepe town, to his college studies, to his battlefield bravery and valor, to the halls of Congress, Spark M. Matsunaga learned firsthand the prejudices that foster injustice, and the use of war, not peace, to try to solve individual and national problems”, writes Stan Yates former President of Storybook Theatre. While a college freshman, in 1937, Sparky wrote an essay entitled “Let us teach our people to want peace.” It stated, in part:
Please thoughtfully consider being a part of Sparky’s dream. Many have helped with the purchase of a Peace Pathway Brick. About 1000 bricks are needed to completely go from the entrance gate and around the statue of Sparky. For a donation of at least $200, you can be part of Sparky’s legacy, and leave your own, with a commemorative brick inscribed with your name, your business name, or in memory of a loved one. Help us to make Sparky’s Peace Garden a living and continuing memorial to Sparky's genius and his tireless efforts to make life better for all Americans.
